OUR SPEAKER: Robert (Bob) Dengler, a Cal Poly Pomona Alumni, began his work at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory with Dr. Peter Siegel as an academic part-time employee in 1988, developing beam pattern acquisition and analysis software. Since then he has been involved in widely varying tasks in the Sub millimeter Wave Advanced Technology Team at JPL including micro fabrication, circuit modeling, test system design & implementation, flight hardware development & testing, and THz biomedical imaging. He has designed & constructed the world’s highest dynamic range small-sample transmission imaging system operating at 2.5 THz.
He has been working with Dr. Ken Cooper on several 670 GHz imaging FMCW 9chirp) radar systems for concealed weapons detection at long standoff ranges since the project’s inception in 2007 & is currently involved in refining this technology for transfer to the private sector for manufacturing.
